This week we are learning about internet safety. Children need to learn how to protect themselves while on the internet. It is our job to teach students how to be safe.

To me this is very important because technology is necessary in the classroom to help our children learn but it can be also a detriment if the students are exposed to the darker side of the world wide web. Internet safety applies to all of us. As students we use the internet everyday and we need to protect ourselves. Our entire scholastic lives are exposed online and if a person allows themselves to be vulnerable it can be a scary.

Teachers need to be able to express to their students the importance of internet safety a child is not born knowing that there are threats on the web. Our job as a teacher is to warn and teach the students of these dangers. This is what we learning this week.

As the world becomes more involved with technology future student will need to take more precautions. More and more of our lives will orbit around the necessity of the internet and it will be important that as a people we can be internet smart. Learning this new material really doesn't change how I plan on teaching, I've always wanted it be my goal to prepare my students for their future and I know that the future of my students is in Technology.

First this that comes to mind when thinking of assignments that I could give to my future students is a classroom blog. This will give my students a chance to work together in and outside the classroom. A classroom blog will keep my students in the loop with what is happening in the class and will help the students become more comfortable with in using the internet.

Working with other teachers will be made easier with the communication tools we have today. I look forward to learning from others and getting their prospectives. I know that as we work together as teachers we will all grow in a teaching ability.

As I watched the video I felt it was information that I had seen before. I thought it was nice way to help students learn the basics of internet safety. I would consider showing it to my own classroom.
