Strengths and Weaknesses

My strengths outweigh my weaknesses. I am very capiable when it comes to using technology not only in my personal life but in my prfessional as well. My skill range from basic knowledge of software and hardware to the understanding of how to manipulate images, create digital stories, edit audio as well as organize documents, spreadsheets and graphs.

My knowledge would be a great resource in todays classroom because I could make the information relevant to my students. According to the UNI Preservice Teacher Technology Competencies I would rate high on myself evaluation.


With the skills I do have at my disposal I do have some weaknesses as well. One of my goals is to improve my use of computer terminology. Being able to communicate properaly using the correct vocabulary would clear up any confusion that might take place between myself and technical support. One website that helped me learn more about technology was Dynamic Web Solutions. Trouble shooting was another area that I need to improve. By myself I have done fairly well working through problems but I do not feel confident communicating with tech support. This lack of confidence has made me leary of asking for help for fear of feeling foolish. One thing that has helped me work through my fears is the use of tutorials. With a tutorial I can watch it multiple times until I understand exactly what I’m trying to do.

As a future teacher it is very important to me that I use proper technical terminology in my classroom. I want my students to also be able to communicate clearly so using proper terminology in my class is one of my goals. I do see the importance of using proper terminology and I have improved I have turned to the apple website as a way for me to learn about the basic properties of my computer. These tutorials are important because they are not only something that I can use but they are also something I can share with my future class.
